TA - Audience Expectations
I asked a few of my target audience members what they wanted in a music magazine, so I could include what they desired to make my magazine more appealing to my target audience. To do this, I asked them what they thought was missing, and what they thought there wasn't enough of in current music magazines on the market. This way I can get an idea of what features I can include in my magazine to differentiate my magazine from others already being published.
"A QR code for an app so I can read the magazine wherever I am"
A few people wanted this feature so they could read my magazine online wherever they wanted to. This would help to increase the amount of people who actually read my magazine so it would be foolish not to include this in my magazine. I could then include videos and other features that can't be put into my magazine.
"Reviews on albums and live shows"
This was a popular suggestion from the people I asked, which is why my magazine will be based mainly on artists and their albums and live shows they've done. This is because my target audience made me aware that they go to concerts quite often, as well as listen to music very often, so I will be including these two features into my magazine to implore people to buy my magazine.
"Make the magazine about the music being produced, not about the gossip"
A few people suggested this when I asked them, which is why my magazine will include no nonsense views, with honest opinions. This is so that my audience can read about the viewpoints of a varied amount of authors in my magazine. To do this, I could include honest opinions from fans and other celebrities who have heard the albums or been to the concerts to really make my audience feel apart of the magazine. Also, I could include less photos to make it more about the music, rather than the image of the artists. However, successful and popular magazines such as NME, do heavily emphasise the use of images to attract potential buyers, so this strategy may not be suitable for my magazine.
